Are more expensive hair products worth the price?

Posted by admin on September 3rd, 2010

I have normal-dry curly hair. And I keep it short (I am a guy). So I was shopping for a better shampoo, conditioner, or treatment. Somebody recommended Paul Mitchell. Any bottle with that name on it seems to cost at least 4-5 times of a household brand like Garnier Fructis.
My question is: for those with personal experience with expensive/professional hair products, is it worth it to pay for the extra?

okaaayyy first lemme tell you the shampoos/conditioners I’ve gone through and how it effected my hair-

1st-
Dove-I haven’t used doved in along time, But everytime I would use it it would damage my hair. And it caused it to frizz
ALOT.
2nd-
reguler pantene for dry hair. what it did was the same thing dove did, damaged and frizzed.
3rd-
tresseme-did the same.
okay, all of the top ones did me the worst..it would firzz up and dry my hair, and after a day or so my hair would gain its natural oil again. And it would be very managable. Bit I wanted something that could make it managebal forever.

then my first "okay" shampoo/conditioner. Aussie, clense and mend shampoo/conditioner. It controlled my hair a bit, And made it softer…but as my hair grew. It changed. And I needed something differant.

aussie-3 minute treatment thing. I HATED That.. it made my hair loose alot color..it made it really thick. And it didn’t make it "look" soft. just feel..

(continues)
then I got to sunsilk- the control hair from frizzing when dried shampoo/conditioner. IT REALLY WORKED but there was only 1 problem..I needed more soft hair. shiny hair..and I got rid of the part where it would frizz and dry up..but thats all. So I had to find something else.

John freida-glamy thing-the one where its spose to make your hair softer and shiniar. I used it on my hair. And it sure controlled it. Didn’t make it shiniar, And the tips of my hair were like getting really couarsee..and it seemed like it was like straw. soo.I needed something else.

john freida-making your hair softer shampoo/conditioner. IT DIDN"T WORK. But it was okay…..not better then aussie though.

so then I went through avalon organics clarifying shampoo/conditioner. IT SUCKED BIG TIME. IT DROPED SO HARD..it was worse then anything I have ever used. SO do not use it.

so then I used nexxus-OMG. I HAte it too..Worse then anything except the avalon organics clarifying shampoo/conditioner. (cont.)
okay..so then I went back to sunsilk..to use durring I search for a better shampoo/conditioner.

I tried using vo5 tea therapy. It was pretty good. But..only if it was with one of the sunsilk stuff.

I tried using infusinum…it sorta made my hair feel like there was wax in it. Like it would controll it alot..but it felt all like I put vasiline in it though. and that wasn’t good.

then I figured out maybe sence my hair was soo dry..I should use some hair for colored women. So I tried pantene line for colored women. It rocked. But after a few weeks it sorta..changed..and it made my hair feel like it wasn’t working anymore. It made it not soft. And like I put some wax in it also..So that wasn’t good.

Then I used mane n tale shampoo/conditioner..The shampoo sucked. but the conditioner was good. But together using them both just made my hair really really dry. and I’ve tried using one sunsilk shampoo..and then mane n tale conditioner..and it was good. But I’m not sure.
(continu
So yeah..my question is..what do u recommend for me???..plz..I don’t want to go testing more and failing again.I want something really good.
oh yeah, and I’m asian. And my hairs black.I color treated it. And its really really thick. wavy/straight

If so, which brand/product do you think would work best with my hair?
I only use shampoo and conditioner. -_-

    Brands I’d like to Try:
    .Frederic Fekkai
    .Bumble and Bumble
    .Pureology

    My Hair:
It’s not that thin, even though Asian hair is stereotyped to be thin. It curls at the ends and gets frizzy when it dries after my shower. After the shower, it also gets poofy. >.<

    Any suggestions? XD

    Thanks. :)

Can I lighten my hair with clarifying shampoo??

I had 2 demi-permanents put on by a professional on my blondish brown high-lighted hair(the first turned out red, the second goth black). I’ve been washing and washing most of the black is gone, now comes the red. It’s currently a reddish brown. I don’t want to strip it.

Here’s my plan: (will it work??) I bought a good clarifying shampoo, going to put it in my dry hair then dry it will the dryer, add more then keep it on for 30 minutes, wash, then keep a conditioning mask on for 30 so it will restore and dryness. Do this everyday. Will it get the dye out?
Should I add a small amount of bleach to my shampoo or would that be kind of dangerous as it could go orange??

How to protect my hair from Flat Iron?

Posted by admin on August 25th, 2010

I use pantene shampoo and conditioner. I always let my hair air dry because I hate blow drying. I have a pink professional corioliss hair straightener and before i use it I spray FX Special Effects Flat Iron Spray. It’s a heat protector.

But my hair is still getting fried. The Straightener is not too hot because I keep it on a lower setting. What products will stop this from happening?
